“An open and welcoming space.” / Introducing Masterclass Vol. 2 artist, Jakub
“After that, I became more interested in this art form and I have continued to pursue opportunities in this area,” Jakub says. Since then, he has participated in a number of mapping projects and contests around the world. “This gave me an opportunity to further my skills, travel and meet very talented people from all over the world,” he adds.
Jakub has been following Limelight’s work for a while when he came across the opportunity of our Projection Mapping Masterclass. “It’s a very special and unique program. I think this field is not quite established yet when it comes to the education of projection mapping artists,” he says.
“Jakub is a God-given talent with a unique visual world that is completely different from the average,” remembers Limelight Co-Founder, István Dávid. “He’s an introvert, barely talks, just listens. But boy when he talks! His ideas were so out of ordinary that even we raised an eyebrow.”
One of the biggest challenges in projection mapping is the reflectiveness of the surface. However, Jakub wanted to take advantage of it, and make it part of his artwork, Mirrors. “His workflow was different from the other artists’ at the workshop. He had many ideas, and developed multiple elements, but he didn’t have the time master the harmony between his visuals and the music,” István remembers. “He is a very young artist with a bright career ahead of him, and I hope we’ve managed to help him understand the importance of balancing out creative ideas and a harmonious execution,” he adds.
“I’m really happy that I had the chance to be involved a bit more in the process from start to finish and understand how projection mapping is developed from making the 3D model of the building to the final alignment of the projectors,” Jakub says. “It’s very special to see the artwork I’ve been working on in its final stages.”
Thanks for coming along to this journey with us Jakub, it’s been a pleasure working with you.
