Le Ballet Des Ombres Heureuses

We created the animation content for this amazing light show designed and produced by ACT Lighting Design, presented during the summer of 2017 at the Strasbourg Cathedral turned into a contemporary shadow theatre. With the help of 15 video projectors, 56 moving heads and 14 washes, an immersive 360° visual experience brings life to a dreamlike spectacle high in contrasts, inhabited by real and phantasmagorical shadows.

The classic sound and light show was inspired by the ancient tradition of shadow play. Shadows have been chosen as the principal way of expression to play with light and space, and thus create a unique immersive experience. A Silhouette, the heart of the Cathedral, takes over the role of the storyteller and drives us throughout the spectacle. The Silhouette is metamorphosing in all its different forms, through poetic scenes that evolve gradually from black and white to color. The white tones enhance the original color of the Cathedral’s stones while the color gently appears and transports us through fascinating universes.

In Le Ballet des Ombres Heureuses, a captivating atmosphere progressively grows and flies to a wonderfully rhythmic world resonating all around the square, in the heart of the city.
