Stephen Wolfram’s theory, rooted in his research with cellular automata—models that accurately simulate various aspects of the real world and inspired the artwork—challenges our assumptions about complexity. When faced with intricate phenomena, we often assume they arise from equally intricate mechanisms. Yet, this is a misconception. Simple programs, present throughout all levels of nature, can give rise to extraordinary complexity. These programs hold the key to understanding everything. Although humans are driven by a desire for comprehension, their attempts to simplify the mechanisms around them often prove futile, as these mechanisms inevitably coalesce into complex systems. This site-specific installation, crafted with custom-made LED tubes, embodies these principles.
